For those of you unaware, our server likes to have an ongoing story, one from which arc events are done on a weekly basis so that players can influence not just the direction the colony goes but the story and development resulting from choices made by individual players and factions.
However, for quite some time I have been considering writing up more stories than just the weekly news to add to the background lore of the colony. These write ups are more in the form of tales told to expand on background lore and information not just of the colony but the mysterious faction heads as well, as many say they don't really know the various leaders all that well.
In these stories, you'll get whats considered the canon background information, however, not every story is meant to be known in character. For this we have tags posted with each story which explain if you can speak of this IC, claim that you were IC there, or claim to know about it. Equally, in these stories, heads of staff or players which are prominent/well known by a faction may appear as mentions or as characters (with permission from the player who will be consulted in the event they play a bigger role than being mentioned/background details).
Tags are thus:
[Unknown] - Players may not allude to or reference this ICly.
[Public] - Players may say they were present when this event happened, even if they were not mentioned by name. What extent is up to them, but should not change the canon events that happened or try to drastically reframe them. Reasonable explanations and participation is expected when deciding your characters involvement.
[Named] - Players who were specifically named and/or played parts in this event can reference what they saw within the confines of the story. This does not mean they know everything that happened in the event, only from what is written that they observed, heard, or saw within reason.
[Global Knowledge] - All player characters may reference this event, but may not claim they were apart of it. You may express knowledge of most of the events unless specifically noted otherwise. Your level of knowledge is yours to determine, if any at all.
These tags may be expanded on later, stay tuned.
Additionally, players may submit stories to staff to be posted here, should they meet the writing standards, lore, and be sufficiently worthwhile to share.
