[CBD] Stiphs- CBO Jobban for assault on Scientist

Post by Stiphs » Mon Aug 22, 2022 9:09 am

BYOND account and character name: Stiphs, Ezra Forty Five

Banning admin: CBD

Ban type/duration (where you are banned from and for how long): Job ban/CBO

Ban reason:Near the end of the round assaulted a scientist using soporific rounds due to suspicion of theft(from the researchers department). 3/3 strikes, ban issued until appeal.

Your side of the story: Fun deepmaint based admin shenanigans occurring. The two disks that were suppling ammo to me and the people who were fighting the creatures, an exotic ammo and lethal ammo disk, where in the industrial autolathe, or right beside it on the rack. The last person to be seen anywhere near said disks was the victim of the assaults, Cohen. Cohen and Ezra Forty Five have history. In that she has had previous violent interactions with him before. OOC Cohen's player is a master at playing a character that is easy to hate. Cohen has previously been known to on numerous occasions pick up anything not nailed down and pocket or use it, whether or not it belonged to him. Being a very spiteful character, it seemed very likely that he took both disks, either just because, or out of spite. I felt that given the situation, and Cohen being Cohen, it was very possible that Cohen had hidden the disks, in spite of the dangers presented by doing that when manmade horrors beyond comprehension (Oh sweet), where crawling from a hole in the floor. In fact it seemed more than possible, but probable. The Marshall on scene, Automata, was sympathetic, as I knew he would be, because of his knowledge of the previous location of the disks. The prime who was also present, stated "Prime Sturnholde says, "...and I personally will gladly speak to her character over yours." So from an in character perspective, she knew, and was correct in that the people around her would be sympathetic. This is mostly irrelevant, except in that it means that I wasn't doing this with complete disregard for roleplay. Where I went wrong was no just asking for assistance, which I did because I felt that everyone was occupied doing important things, like fighting, or sealing up deep maint holes. I also went wrong because I did this at the very end of he round. I didn't do this to spite other players, but because I was really into the game, and forgot the round was ending. It also...just kinda happened that way, like he showed up just before shift end and started moving things around. I didn't think about how it was just before the round ended, I just reacted to the situation. And I reacted like a dumbass.
Why you think you should be unbanned:
This was a mistake, but this mistake was made from a place of sincerity and care for the principles of putting yourself in the shoes of your character and acting in a way that makes sense. The problem: I was being a sincere dumbass. The upshot of this is that I am capable of learning. I'll learn OOC and IC to not take things into my own hands, and to keep things away from round end.

Generally speaking, we all make mistakes. That can be attributed to us as people, and players, and even administrators. We're all bound to make them.

However I did have stipulations for you when I gave you those strikes for CBO the first time. That it would be easier to accrue your next strike, and that in the event you didn't show major improvement in your play that it would result in a CBO removal -- it's why they were explicit to CBO, and not Soteria Medical in general.

I expect our heads of departments to be relatively even headed, and especially to not be causing issues near the end of the round. While I understand mistakes happen, and things can sometimes not be avoided -- in this case they could have been, and I agree with the judgement given.

You may appeal this, given no further strikes, in three months when the strike is cleared from the record. (Given you gain no other strikes in this time, at least.)

Until then, have fun, and please try to get better at reading the round-timers and understand when is and isn't proper to cause a kerfuffle like this.

Appeal denied. You may re-appeal in three months.
