Character Name: Mudamin
Banning admin: Cora / t306206
Ban type/duration (where you are banned from and for how long): Minimum Two Week
Ban reason:
Banned for continual IC/OOC issues. Along with a constant grudge against all marshals, and trying to make their lives as difficult as possible with no valid reason. Got arrested for breaking checkpoint window, then spammed bannanas and knocking on windows beucase marshalls wouldnt give him his "sacred" clown mask. Your records indicated nothing about this religion or needing this mask. This was done purely to annoy and mess with marshalls beucase you were annoyed. You have a record of doing this to extents you have been brought into staff chats to be told you OOCly need to stop. There is no RP to be gained from these events, they purely make peoples days worse. Not to mention the OOC post that was made just to invoke shock factor in people. Another thing, that has no explanation, as such you are perma-banned, which can be appealed in 2 weeks on the fourms.
This is a permanent ban.
Your side of the story:
Mudamin
So, to begin with, Mudamin is what I feel is a soft-antag character. He’s a crackhead who wears a clown mask and possibly worships the voices in his head. His religion is essentially being a HRP SS13 Meth Clown seen as a religion. I play him as a clown of minor annoyance, as well as a petty thief to fuel his addictions (he’s already broken into Medchem 5x already, never caught). Saying that Mudamin fought the cops because of OOC reasons is not the case here. My security record is extensively filled out to indicate that Mudamin has a long history of petty crime and drug fueled degeneracy, so I feel “resisting arrest” while having punches pulled can help RP. However I promise that Mudamin does NOT start the fights, and I do try to follow rules about “comedic escalation”, as a devout follower of the Honkmother, Mudamin knows that Grandmaster Yuu Dum Fuq says, “the way of laughter is always best, and that if one is punching, one can not slapstick”.
Anyways, let’s get started.
So, Mudamin comes in as clown. Honk honk. Got his horn. Honk. He decides he wants to ride the super slide out at the solars, so he goes to the gate house. They’re being total dweebs and refuse to even acknowledge his presence, even when honking as loud as he could! The audacity!
So Mudamin wandered off, mumbling something under his breath about climbing the fence itself, how hard could it be. And yes, I was going to legitimately try to have Mudamin touch the electric fence in an attempt to scale over it, get fried to a crisp, and walk back to the gatehouse and politely ask to be let through while he is smelling of charred flesh. But then the BS dropped the blast shields to stop Mudamin, so I couldn’t try that level of Stupid Maunkyne Trick. So BS was obviously not playing fair. And then Mudamin spied the big red brick. How could one pass up an opportunity from the Gods? Truly Random Randy had smiled upon Mudamin, and he could continue to bring the many funnies.
So Mudamin goes back to the gate and tries to get their attention by honking. They ignore him, specifically emoting putting in earpods to not listen. Mudamin begins to bang on the glass repeatedly. They do not respond. Mudamin then tells them if they are deaf that he would need to knock harder. They continue to ignore him, so he then begins to “knock harder” with the big red brick.
That got their attention. One of them came out into the bay and told Mudamin to stop it or else he would be charged with vandalism. At which point Mudamin contested it with approximately, “Vandalism? No! This is not vandalism. Window is not broken. You call Mudamin liar.” He then smashed the glass completely and screamed, “THAT IS VANDALISM! Now Mudamin not a liar!”, dropped the brick and peacefully began to walk away. Unfortunately while Mudamin chose peace, Blackshield chose violence that day, and mag-dumped an entire pistol of .50 Kurtz lethal into the back of Mudamin’s skull.
Mudamin was obviously not happy by this, and immediately turned around to ask what was going on, as I the player was hoping for a comedic argument with blood trickling down the bullet holes in Mudamin’s forehead. Unfortunately he got grabbed and cuffed and dragged into the holding cell to sit next to a very alive (and very hostile) Croaker Lord. I think the only amount of resistance Mudamin was putting up was continually attempting to undo his cuffs (he was a part-time magician until The Wizards Guild kicked him out for not being able to make disappeared (stolen) objects reappear).
Well anyway, there was a pain in Mudamin’s head, so Mudamin knew that was probably shrapnel and called out for it to be removed. Blackshield responded and a surgeon was called to the gatehouse to remove the metal.
Now, up until this point, I believe that as a player I had acted in a manner that was fair and equitable to the other players. Providing some form of light antagonism for them to deal with without being overtly a problem to the other players.
After this point, though, I, the player, started to act like an idiot.
So, in walks the surgeon, and Mudamin get strapped to the bed. The surgeon then injects him with something that I’m going to assume was painkiller. Unfortunately, either through bug in server (I hear past one hour pain killers didn’t work before) or because Mudamin is a Maunkyne with Lead Blood and every perk that says he can inject smack into his eyes and be fine, the painkiller does not take effect before they begin cutting and sawing open Mudamin’s head to remove the shrapnel.
The screen was filling with words like “Oh, end the pain.” and “Your head feels like it’s on fire” as you watch blood splatter everywhere. Mudamin began to scream because as a Sabylekyne knowing pain is an odd feeling for him. The Engineer bot watching literally said “This is a lawsuit in progress.”
Now, I did make the decision for Mudamin to scream over the general comms because of what was going on. Having a general emote of “Mudamin screams over comms!” would have been fine. I took it further. And while I defend the ability to scream AHHHHHH! in text over general comms to emulate the ear screeching pain of the scream, I took it too far. I filled other players screens (players who had no involvement in the scene) with gigantic AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!’s over and over again. Other players didn’t need this or ask for this. Two A’s and maybe four H’s would have sufficed, and I used far too many exclamation marks. Maybe even two short lines of this would have been loud yet tasteful. I was not tasteful however while at the same time being excessively loud and I interrupted other’s fun. For this I am sorry.
Mudamin was then handed over to the Marshals so they could take him to get a full body scan, and Mudamin did not attempt to fight back or initiate hostilities towards the Marshals. I think the extent of “resisting” I had him do was to intentionally run to a door I knew would be locked to Mudamin, sighing in defeat and walking back to the Marshal. Oh, and he continued to try to take off his hand cuffs because magicians need to represent.
And when Mudamin was being processed, I had Mudamin cooperate with the Marshals. He proudly declared his innocence while admitting to the crime in literally the same sentence. Like, I knew Mudamin was going to get brigged, so I played along and at least attempted to be entertaining. But then they took the mask.
So the mask is sacred to Mudamin, and he sees it as his connection to the Honkmother and I as a player take great pains to hide Mudamin’s face from the screen. I actually try to alt-lock myself facing North if I have to remove the mask to each, drink, or smoke crack. It is almost a religious sin for a clown to be caught without his mask on, and other Absolutionists have occasionally called him out on it when I took the mask off him momentarily to eat some food. So being forced to not wear the mask while being buckle cuffed in a Southernly direction was essentially forcing him to endure Hell. Did the Marshal players know this? No. Did I explain it to the Marshals? No.
Could I have done a better job at ICly showing it’s “Holiness” as I have been called out on in my ban reason? In theory, yes. Right before the round I was looking at my loadout and thinking “I should rename this something like Mask of the Honkmother” but I didn’t think it would be an issue so I didn’t. This was probably my mistake. Though I will say it was labeled a “prisoner mask” so Mudamin still should have been able to keep it.
However, regardless of whether it was properly labeled as a “religious item” or not is immaterial because they stripped Mudamin of his religious Absolutionist Joke Book (Guaranteed to bring the funnies), so a labeled sacred mask would have been taken too. After the day Mudamin had had, in Mudamin’s mind there was only one thought, summed up by the Trickster God Buggs, “Of course you realize, this means war”.
And I as a player made the mistake of deciding to turn the “Annoyance” from a 4 straight to an eleven and annoying the entire server.
- Mudamin repeatedly used the newscaster to spam “his side of the story” and generally be an annoyance. This caused every player who had a logged in email to have to deal with my character in their face repeatedly. This was wrong on my part, as I forgot just how loud and annoying the newspaper announcement really is if you’re logged in.
- The poop joke. Yeah. I don’t really have an explanation. It was horrifically offensive and disgusting. AT BEST I can say that it should’ve been an emote so only those dumb enough to have all ghost sight on would see it, but me placing it in OOC where everyone in play would see it was completely thoughtless of my fellow players and I’m sorry.
- Banging on the windows and trashing the prison cell. This one I’m having a bit harder of a time admitting I was fully in the wrong, as they did take the mask. This is the sort of thing that could realistically result in a crackhead going psycho in the middle of any prison cell and just trashing it. I feel that trashing a prison cell is fully within the boundaries of roleplay expectations from a Maunkyne Prospector.
HOWEVER, there is a point where it does get old, and after refreshing myself on the Wiki, I was wrong in that Mudamin was not following “Prisoner Expectations”. Bitching about the Marshals treating me unfairly was wrong of me. They had the full right to take me to solitary where they wouldn’t need to hear me, and they could’ve even buckle cuffed me to a bed in a strait jacket, so there’s that.
As a point of fairness though, putting someone in solitary, not setting ANY timer, and then not interacting with the character or player for twenty minutes would have generally been wrong in any other circumstance, here in the moment yes I was acting like an asshole shitter so I probably ultimately deserved it. - I was wrong in trying to argue my ban down to 72 hours. While at that moment of posting that I had believed a 72 hour ban was standard for LRP shittery, after reflection yes I did deserve at least a week ban to cool my heels. Arguable about the second week but waiting another week wouldn’t hurt anything. I’d also like to thank Dongels for allowing me to continue to be present on the Discord while waiting out my ban so that I could address my questions at the town hall.
Why you think you should be unbanned:
I really am sorry for being that much of an asshole. I had had a really bad day up until then, and I decided to use SS13 as a stress release valve and I’m sorry about that. I absolutely needed a time out to get my head straight to address things, and I’ve taken a long time to actually sit, look at my actions, and contemplate. I even took an extra week just to make sure I had fully “chilled out” and thought about it, and I will attempt to “bring the funnies” in more interesting and thoughtful ways than just banging on windows.
If this is really all there was to me being banned, then there’s no point in going past this point. I’ve reflected on my actions and I feel that I understand what I did as Mudamin to get banned.
However, I feel that I as a player am now on trial, and have been accused of many things since being banned. So if you do not feel I have properly addressed your own personal accusations and concerns, please see The Attached Document.
